To complicate things further, Riley's mom was out of town the night she was taken into custody.

"Riley recounted, 'She was in Las Vegas when I had to call her and ask her to come back and pick me up from prison. I've never shared this with anyone before! She replied, 'I can't make it there.' So instead, she had my aunt come to get me.'"

The arrest went unnoticed by the media, but it was purely coincidental; Lisa Marie was completely open about it.

Southern Charm's Molly Claims 'ANTM' Was 'Psychological Torture,' Much 'Tougher' Than the Bravo Series 2447

View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Molly O'Connell. Molly O’Connell is new to Southern Charm for season 10 but she’s no stranger to reality TV after competing on America’s Next Top Model. “Top Model was harder, definitely,” Molly, 37, revealed on the Thursday, January 16, episode of “The Viall Files” podcast. “It was 24/7 filming. They had motion sensor cameras in the corner of our bedrooms.” The model, who came in second during season 16 of ANTM in 2011, recalled the showers being “see-through except for one little frosted part” and the bathrooms only having a curtain instead of a door. “You couldn’t really get away from anyone. They could easily walk in,” Molly clarified, pointing out that the cameras wouldn’t invade the bathrooms while you were using them. However, she insisted, “If you tried to avoid the cameras, they’d track you down.” Molly claimed that the production crew would intentionally create chaos and amplify everyone's feelings by scheduling interviews at “really late” hours. “I would get low blood sugar attacks and need food and they would dangle a sandwich in front of me. ‘Just a few more questions Molly and then we’ll feed you,’” she told host Nick Viall of her time filming back in 2010. “It was so toxic.” While Molly called ANTM “a bit of psychological torture,” she said, “I would still do it again. It wasn’t so horrible that I wouldn’t do that experience all over again.” During her first season of Southern Charm — her debut episode premiered in December 2024 — Molly has been open about her challenges as a model. She has discussed her weight gain and ups and downs with self-confidence as a result. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Photo credit: Molly O’Connell/Instagram After talking about her weight on camera, Molly was fat-shamed by pal Whitney Sudler-Smith for eating a cupcake during the December 12, 2024, episode. “He’s very insensitive,” Molly told Viall and his wife, Natalie Joy, of Whitney on Thursday. When asked if Whitney or Tyra Banks was “more rude about food,” Molly said it wasn’t even close. “Honestly, I’d say Tyra,” she responded. “Whitney only mentioned that one thing. He doesn’t usually talk to me that way. It was more like, ‘Seriously, can’t you pick up on the vibe?’” Molly noted that Banks, 51 — who created the model competition in 2003 — was “so toxic” but claimed, “She didn’t say stuff about us eating.” “She wasn’t like, ‘Don’t eat.’ But she did come and film a segment with us about healthy food to eat,” Molly recalled, adding that there was a skewed perspective on the model’s sizes on ANTM. “The people who they would be like, ‘You’re plus size. You’re the biggest girl here.’ They’re smaller than I am now.” She recalled that the time they filmed her season was “toxic.” However, despite the negativity, Molly mentioned that it was “very enjoyable” and she had “many incredible experiences” that contributed to her career growth. Molly still talks to “almost all” of the models she competed against to “some extent,” especially the season 16 winner, Brittani Kline. “We stayed very good friends,” she shared. “I talk to [judge and photographer] Nigel Barker,” Molly added. “He was super nice. The judges weren’t as in on the [toxicity].” When it comes to Southern Charm, Molly said that the drama is coming — but her experience on the show has been pleasant. I remember thinking, ‘Oh no, am I dull? Does everyone dislike me?’” she reflected on the filming experience in 2024. “I tend to overanalyze every situation I find myself in. In the end, I believe it turned out really well.” View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Wendy Williams Foresees That Diddy Will End Up Spending His Life Behind Bars 2452

"And you know what? It's high time. Diddy's finished." View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images for Vulture Festival Wendy Williams is convinced that Sean “Diddy” Combs will never see freedom again. During a recent call-in with The Breakfast Club on Thursday (Jan. 16), the legendary talk show host didn’t hold back when asked about the disgraced Bad Boy CEO. "Williams forecasted, 'Diddy is facing a lifetime behind bars, folks. You have no idea of the secrets I’ve known about him from years ago. Honestly, it’s about time this happened. Diddy’s time is up.'" Her long-standing grudge against Combs dates back to 1998 when she alleged he “single-handedly” got her fired from Hot 97. In her 2004 book, The Wendy Williams Experience, she wrote about her “contempt” for Diddy and the struggles she endured because of him. “The hell he put me through—I will never forget. But I don’t hate him,” she said. In 2019, she alleged that a certain influential "music mogul" dispatched a group of women to confront her outside a radio station, with many suggesting that Diddy was behind the scheme. "There was a time when a music mogul sent his female entourage to assault me right in front of the radio station. It's true!" she recounted back then. "After I completed my shift, I took off my headphones, slung my bag over my shoulder, and noticed a crowd gathering at the window, all staring down at the sidewalk." The media maven’s disdain for the 55-year-old isn’t a new feeling as she accused the Hip-Hop mogul of derailing her career in 1998. After a few other syndicated radio shows, Williams went on to have her own daytime talk show from 2008 to 2022, when production stopped due to her health. A year later the National Radio Hall of Famer was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and progressive aphasia—although she’s asserted that she’s “not cognitively impaired.” During the TBC interview, Williams emotionally opened up about her conservatorship, which she compared to a “luxury prison.” She said, “My life is a mess. It feels like I’m trapped in a cage. I’m really alone. I keep my door shut, spend my time watching TV, listening to the radio, and staring out the window. I just sit here as time passes me by. I’m surrounded by people in their 90s, 80s, and 70s. There’s something off about the folks on this floor.” Through her tears, she pleaded, “They won’t let you go or have anyone come to see you. You can’t even step outside for a walk, go on a trip, or see your family. I’m terrified I won’t get to celebrate my dad’s 94th birthday with him. The day after that isn’t guaranteed.” View pictures in App save up to 80% data. On July 23, 2019, Wendy Williams participated in a SiriusXM Town Hall event, which was hosted by SiriusXM's Karen Hunter at the SiriusXM Studios in New York City. This event was captured by Astrid Stawiarz/Getty Images for SiriusXM. As for Diddy, he’s currently being held in an actual jail as he awaits trial, which is scheduled to begin on May 5. He is held on the federal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking—which he has denied any wrongdoing. The father of seven has faced bail denial on three separate occasions, with prosecutors asserting that his purported participation in "freak-off" sex parties involved pressuring both women and men into engaging in extreme activities, some of which are reportedly recorded on video. If found guilty, Diddy could potentially receive a life sentence in prison.

Eric Braeden, the star of The Young and the Restless, will not be returning to the show. 2445

View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Could this be the end for Victor Newman? That’s what a lot of The Young and the Restless fans can’t help but wonder as there’s heavy speculation suggesting actor Eric Braeden might not come back to the soap. Keep reading below for everything you need to know. Eric Braeden, the star of The Young and the Restless, will not be returning. Eric, who is best known for his role as Victor Newman on the hit CBS soap, has been left devastated after his house burned down during the historic Los Angeles County fires.  The actor had dedicated the past 45 years to creating cherished moments with his family in his treasured home, but now it has been completely reduced to ashes. The most recent update for fans of The Young and the Restless came from Eric, who recently explored the remains of his destroyed home. Since then, he hasn't provided any news about where he is, leading many fans to speculate that he may have moved elsewhere temporarily as he begins the process of rebuilding his life. Many fans believe that Eric would require significant time away to reconstruct his life following the devastation caused by the wildfire.  Not only that, but there’s also speculation that because Eric had already spent more than four decades on the show, he might also be thinking about retirement. Plus, if there was ever a time that his family needed him, it would be now. It would make sense for Eric to want to put his career to the side for those who matter the most in his life. Victor Newman, meanwhile, will just have to wait. The Young and the Restless Teasers: What Lies Ahead for Eric Braeden? As of now, Eric Braede has yet to share any thoughts on the situation. However, we will keep you informed with all the newest updates as they become available. Stay tuned for further information. 'The Jeffersons' at 50: The Impact of Norman Lear on Black Representation in Television 2472
'The Jeffersons' at 50: The Impact of Norman Lear on Black Representation in Television 2472

Jim McKairnes  |  Special to USA TODAY At 11 seasons, “The Jeffersons” ran longer than any of producer Norman Lear’s classic 1970s comedies, including its parent show “All in the Family.” But the more important history it made came as soon as its first episode, 50 years ago this week: CBS' “The Jeffersons” marked the first Black-family comedy for which Black didn’t signal economic struggle.   George and Louise Jefferson (Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford) were plain rich. Credit the Black Panthers. At least, in part.  As racial barriers fell and onscreen representation increased in the early 1970s, the biggest gains were in half-hour comedies. Some of these “Black shows” ‒ a series adaptation of Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park,” military comedy “Roll Out” (from the creators of “M*A*S*H”), and barbershop sitcom “That’s My Mama” ‒ came and went. Two became giant hits: NBC’s “Sanford and Son” and CBS’ “Good Times.” But their tales of impoverished lives unfolding in famously Black neighborhoods ‒ the Sanfords were junk dealers in Los Angeles’ blighted Watts community, while “Good Times” was set in a Chicago housing project ‒ offered singular, even stereotypical, portraits: Two steps forward, one step back.   View pictures in App save up to 80% data. 'The Jeffersons' were elevating their status. “The Jeffersons” made its way into primetime to shake things up. The show followed the beloved neighbors of Archie and Edith Bunker as they reveled in the prosperity of their growing dry cleaning enterprise, swapping their modest Queens rowhouse for a lavish apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The challenges they faced were more about cultural adjustment than financial hardship, as the newly affluent sought to blend in with the established elite.   The spinoff became a certainty following Hemsley’s initial appearance in Season 4 of “All in the Family.” Louise Jefferson, played by Sanford, along with their son Lionel, portrayed by Mike Evans, had been recurring characters since 1971. However, Hemsley, who was envisioned by Lear as the head of the family, wasn't available until 1973.   In his 2014 memoir titled “Even This I Get To Experience,” Lear recounted how a chance meeting outside of the entertainment industry helped to accelerate the process.   How the Black Panthers Influenced a Television Family That Wasn't 'Dirt Poor' “One day, three representatives from the Black Panthers burst into my CBS office, declaring they were there to speak with the garbage man – me,” he recounted. “They criticized ‘Good Times,’ labeling it as trash. ‘It’s merely a white man’s interpretation of a Black family… every time you feature a Black man on television, he’s portrayed as impoverished.’”   “The Jeffersons” emerged as his answer. Following an unofficial first episode marked by a “Family” farewell, the show premiered midseason on January 18, 1975. Strategically placed in CBS' Saturday lineup, right after its successful predecessor, the new comedy quickly garnered a strong viewership. As George and Louise established their lives, audiences embraced them as well. By the end of the 1974-75 season, the show ranked as the fourth most-watched program.  “The Jeffersons” benefitted from a larger cast than seen in Lear’s other hits, too, allowing for more storylines to explore. Costars included Marla Gibbs as the Jeffersons’ housekeeper, Zara Cully as George’s live-in mother, Paul Benedict as their British neighbor, and Berlinda Tolbert as Lionel’s girlfriend (and later, wife), whose parents, played by Roxie Roker and Franklin Cover, made history as primetime’s first regularly featured interracial couple.   View pictures in App save up to 80% data. However, 'The Jeffersons' mostly steered clear of political themes. While early episodes addressed the social politics stirred by their move to Manhattan ‒ stories about identity, invoking terms like Uncle Toms and passing ‒ “The Jeffersons” didn’t court headlines the way “All in the Family” or Lear’s controversial “Maude” did. In time, race was less of a driver, and the show became a more conventional, often broad sitcom. Even the stridency of George Jefferson’s prejudice on display in “Family” ‒ the character, “imagined as a reflection of what (Archie) Bunker’s bigotry would look like in ‘blackface’” ‒ was toned down, wrote Mark Anthony Neal for Ebony in 2012. His boisterous persona was more comical than confrontational, a hot-air balloon of strutting pomposity punctured by his family.   Even the occasional “special episodes” ‒ Louise’s reflections on her less-affluent past, Lionel’s dip into alcohol abuse, George’s reunion with an old Navy pal, now a woman ‒ orbited more around the human condition than a racial one.   One notable exception: 1980’s “The First Store,” a flashback episode about Jefferson Cleaners opening on the same day in 1968 as Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. After Lear’s 2023 death, The Hollywood Reporter included it as one of the “Six Norman Lear TV Episodes That Changed the World.”  The show was never nominated for Emmy Awards in writing or directing categories, and won just two in total, for videotape editing and for Sanford (the first black woman to win Best Comedy Actress). “The Jeffersons” was sometimes criticized in the Black community for perceived lapses into stereotypes, or for portraying George as a buffoon. (The Baltimore Sun’s Gregory Kane called it “demeaning to Black people” in a 1999 essay about race and television.) But the show facilitated a prime-time transition from “Black shows” to series that simply offered Black casts, cemented by the arrival of NBC’s “The Cosby Show” in 1984.  “Its characters opened doors for future black actors,” wrote Danielle Cadet in The Huffington Post after Hemsley’s 2012 death. “And its success proved that African American sitcoms did, in fact, resonate with general audiences.”  The resonance of “The Jeffersons,” which ended in 1985 after 253 episodes and 15 timeslot changes, stands as its legacy: the first Black sitcom since “Sanford and Son” (1972-77) to rank among TV’s top five shows, the first to rank as TV’s top comedy for a season (1981-82), CBS’ third-longest-running sitcom at the time of its cancellation and, still, the longest-running Black comedy in network-TV history. Lear restaged one episode in a live 2019 ABC special that featured Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes in the lead roles. After numerous attempts, “The Jeffersons” finally made it up that hill.

"An enormous beast wreaking havoc on a city – what an incredible concept!" The King of Monsters unleashes destruction in Godzilla vs. America: Chicago. 2455

Interview | The creative team behind Godzilla vs. America: Chicago discusses their journey of introducing the legendary monster to the Windy City View pictures in App save up to 80% data. (Image source: IDW Publishing) Godzilla has battled many foes in its time, from Kong to Mechagodzilla to Mothra, and more (including the Avengers last year). Now the King of the Monsters is set to take on an entire country! "Godzilla vs. America" is a limited series of four issues published by IDW, where the iconic giant monster wreaks havoc in four major U.S. cities. The inaugural issue features the colossal creature causing destruction in Chicago, showcasing three fresh tales crafted by Tim Seeley, Mike Costa, Ryan Browne, and Ezra Claytan Daniels.  Newsarama spoke with Chicago residents Seeley, Costa, and Browne to delve deeper into their new comic and explore the experience of unleashing the legendary creature in their city... View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Ryan Browne's artwork for the cover of Godzilla vs. America: Chicago #1. Newsarama: To start, can you share what Godzilla represents for each of you and what it feels like to be working on a Godzilla comic? Tim Seeley: I grew up on Godzilla movies in the '80s. They were some of the first easy-to-find VHS videos. When I moved out on my own (and was totally broke) I used my first video store membership to rent and watch all the movies I hadn't seen. So, I think, Godzilla is a comfort character for me. No matter what mood I'm in, I can watch one of the films... any of the films. Mike Costa & Ryan Browne: Well, Godzilla's a cultural icon, probably next to Dracula and Frankenstien as the most recognizable monsters of all time. Grant Morrison talked in an interview once about how the legacy of Superman is like a vast cave painting, and they were just proud to smudge their little thumbprint on it, and that's exactly how we feel. Our tiny contribution to the great Cultural Record. Could you share a sneak peek of your stories featured in this special issue dedicated to Chicago? Seeley: A college student, trying to talk herself into asking out a guy she likes, is on the Chicago L, waiting for a sign to act. Unfortunately that sign is an attack by Godzilla. Costa & Browne: Like the first – and all the best – Godzilla stories, our story isn't actually about Godzilla. Godzilla exists as a terrible consequence of human arrogance and hubris. We're just focusing on a specifically Chicago-centric form of hubris. Which is not in short supply in that wonderful city. Especially around their sports teams. Image 1 of 2 View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Most people likely have their own vision of what a Godzilla narrative entails, but this comic demonstrates that there’s ample opportunity for diverse tones and genres to coexist within that framework. What contributes to the versatility of this character as a storytelling device? Seeley: Well, Godzilla isn't a character per se. It's a force of nature with a cool face. All the best Godzilla stories are about people stuck in Godzilla's way, and how they deal with inevitability and catastrophe. I took inspiration from Godzilla '54 and Minus One – plus a little touch of '80s rom-com. Costa & Browne: Godzilla has always been such an elastic character. He's been a wrathful judgement on human civilization. He's been a defender of that very same civilization. He's been a big mindless Roland Emmerich egg-laying lizard, and he's been a compassionate friend to children. But monsters are elastic. That's why we invent them – they can be whatever the moment needs them to be. And if the post-war Japanese people need him to personify and exorcise their anxieties about atomic weapons, or if Roland Emmerich needs him to step on Siskel and Ebert because they panned his movies, Godzilla is there for them, just like he's there for all of us. Image 1 of 1 View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Interior art from Tim Seeley's story for Godzilla vs. America: Chicago #1.(Image source: IDW Publishing) This topic revolves around Chicago. In what ways does this shift from the conventional Japanese backdrop influence your narratives? Seeley: Chicago is my home, and it's a very distinct place. It's very much built around public transit (which has its problems, sure, especially of late), but which connects a lot of different people poor people, rich people, different races...everyone has to get downtown here. So, setting the story on this beloved institution made it really easy to make it feel distinctly Chicago. Costa & Browne: We set out to tell a story about Chicago that involves Godzilla, rather than just plunk Godzilla down in a new town and have him destroy some famous midwestern buildings instead of Tokyo Tower. Chicagoans can decide how we did! But I think they will be pleased. View pictures in App save up to 80% data. This Tim Seeley variant cover showcases Godzilla rampaging through the streets of Chicago. If Godzilla really did attack Chicago, how do you think the locals would respond? Seeley: Chicago is a city that's used to being a target. Right-wing media tries to make people think it's a crime-ridden cesspool, and we're often glossed over by the coastal elites types. So, that makes us defensive of our town. We love it, because you hate us. If Godzilla showed up, Chicagoans would pick up beer bottles and snow shovels and fight that lizard! Costa & Browne: Chicago's roots are midwestern industrial. Meat-packing and manufacturing. It's also one of the greatest food cities in the US. So all of that combines into a town that is proudly more blue-collar, and proudly more unhealthy, than the sexier coastal cities. It's also a town of extremely aggressive sports fans. Which means that, should Godzilla attack, he would be met by significant solidarity in the civilian resistance, more of whom would be felled by diabetes and high blood pressure than Godzilla himself. Chicago goes down swinging. In my view, the lasting allure of Godzilla over seven decades can be attributed to several key factors. Firstly, the character embodies the fears and anxieties of its time, evolving with societal changes and reflecting contemporary issues such as environmental concerns, nuclear warfare, and urbanization. Secondly, Godzilla serves as a powerful metaphor for humanity's struggle against nature and the consequences of technological advancement. Additionally, the creature's unique design and colossal presence captivate audiences, while the blend of horror, action, and occasional humor appeals to a broad demographic. Finally, the franchise's ability to reinvent itself through various films and adaptations keeps it relevant and engaging for new generations, ensuring that Godzilla remains an iconic symbol in popular culture. Seeley: Godzilla represents our fear that sooner or later, nature is going to get fed up with us and wipe us off the map. That's what made Godilla popular during the Cold War's nuclear saber-rattling, and responsible for its recent surge in popularity as climate change burns cities to the ground. Also – Godzilla looks really cool and beats up other cool looking monsters. Costa & Browne: For all our high-falutin dramaturgy about the existential societal mirror of Godzilla, none of that would be of much interest without the core, irresistible premise that Tomoyuki Tanaka and Ishiro Honda created and Toho perfected: Giant monster smash city. What a perfect idea. I think seeing a story where a giant monster smashes a city is up there on the hierarchy of needs with food, shelter and security. It's simply one of the things that makes us human. "Godzilla Vs America: Chicago" is set to be released by IDW on February 26.
